Fact-Checking Policy
Fact-checking at Uploadinsiders is a documented habit rather than a label added at the end. The intensity of checking depends on potential harm, complexity, novelty and how quickly the information can change. Every managed article receives a baseline review, while consequential claims require stronger evidence and clearer limits.

Claim mapping
During editing, we identify statements that a reader could reasonably verify: names, dates, prices, definitions, rules, statistics, quotations and cause-and-effect claims. Writers should know which source supports each important statement.
This standard is applied proportionately. A short service update and a long investigative guide do not require identical treatment, but both must avoid misleading the reader. Editors record material judgement calls so that later updates can be made consistently.
For the editorial team, implementation begins at commissioning. The assignment records the intended audience, likely impact, owner and review route. This makes the standard visible before wording becomes difficult to change and gives the final editor a concrete checklist rather than a vague aspiration.
Source hierarchy
Primary sources are preferred: official documentation, legislation, regulatory notices, original research, direct datasets and on-record interviews. Secondary reporting helps with context but should not become a circular chain in which several pages repeat one unsupported claim.
The practical test is whether a reasonable reader can understand what is known, where it came from and what limits remain. When the answer is no, the work needs another source, narrower wording or a clearer disclosure before publication.
Evidence is stored in a form another editor can inspect. Links, document titles, dates, screenshots when necessary and notes about uncertainty are kept with the working draft. A source is not considered strong merely because many websites repeat the same wording.
Numbers and comparisons
Statistics are checked for period, population, unit, denominator and methodology. Comparisons should use compatible definitions. We avoid presenting a precise-looking number when the underlying estimate is uncertain or the sample is too narrow.
India is the primary audience context for Uploadinsiders, but readers and sources may be located elsewhere. We do not assume that one jurisdiction, language, device or household pattern represents everyone. Relevant local variation should be named.
Local relevance receives an explicit check. Editors ask whether a reader in another Indian state, using a different language, device, payment method or service provider could encounter a materially different result. The article names that difference when it changes the decision.
Products and digital services
Interfaces, plan limits and availability change frequently. We record the date and market checked, use official support pages where possible and avoid implying that a feature is universal when it varies by account, device or location.
Search visibility, social engagement and commercial performance never justify a factual shortcut. Headlines, metadata and internal links should accurately describe the underlying page and should not manufacture urgency or expertise.
Presentation receives the same integrity test as the body. A thumbnail, excerpt, heading or call-to-action must not imply a guarantee that the text does not support. Important qualifications remain readable on a phone and are not hidden after promotional language.
Health, finance and safety
High-impact material is written as general education, not personal diagnosis or professional advice. We look for recognised clinical, regulatory or institutional guidance and state when individual circumstances require a qualified professional.
Records are handled with attention to privacy and security. Access is limited to people who need it for editorial, technical or legal purposes, and unnecessary sensitive information should not be collected merely because a tool makes collection easy.
Access to working material follows a need-to-know principle. Contributors use approved accounts, minimise copies and avoid placing personal or confidential information into public links or unapproved automation. When sensitive information is not essential to the story, it is removed rather than merely hidden.
Quotations and media
Direct quotations must match the source and retain fair context. Images, charts and screenshots should have a legitimate origin, accurate caption and necessary permission or licence. Illustrative graphics must not be presented as documentary evidence.
A policy is useful only when readers can challenge its application. Specific feedback is logged, assessed against evidence and routed to an editor with authority to correct or improve the page.
Feedback is assessed by substance. A well-supported message from an ordinary reader can be more useful than an unsupported demand from a powerful organisation. Editors document the evidence considered, the decision made and whether another page or policy also needs improvement.
When verification is incomplete
If an important claim cannot be verified adequately, we remove it, narrow it, attribute the uncertainty or postpone publication. Being first is not a defence for being careless.
We review this document when the publication changes its workflow, introduces a relevant service or identifies a recurring gap. The updated date helps readers understand which version is currently in effect.
Periodic review looks for patterns, not only isolated failures. Repeated corrections, confusing contact requests, accessibility barriers or outdated links can reveal a system problem. The response may include training, a template change, an additional review step or retirement of material that cannot be maintained responsibly.
